Face Towels=Acne

Why your towels are ruining your skin

Even though most of us are more concerned about the products we put on our skin, we really ought to pay attention to how we cleanse and dry before applying those serums and creams!

Even if you aren’t prone to acne breakouts and don’t have sensitive skin, you still need to have a separate towel for your body and your face.

You can’t use your regular towel to dry your face

Facial products are made to ensure they don’t clog pores, and they’re also formulated with ingredients that aren’t as harsh on the skin. Just like you wouldn’t dare using a body exfoliation product on your face, your bath sheet should never be used for drying your face after your nightly (or daily) face cleansing routine.

If you use your regular towel, which probably already contains some oil and bacteria from your body (or heaven forbid someone else’s), you’re just introducing more bacteria into pores that have been opened when you washed your face. And that kind of defeats the whole purpose.

Wet, used towels can carry bacteria and fungus, transmitting them to the skin can cause breakouts and rashes,” adds Robert Anolik, MD, a New York-based dermatologist.

Even if you use a face towel, you can’t re-use it day after day

Bacteria will start to grow on your face towel as soon as you’re done using it to dry your face. And because we all have bacteria that naturally occurs on our skin (of which we can’t cleanse 100%), people with acne-prone and sensitive skin are even more at risk of developing reactions from the bacteria that linger on a face towel.

This means that you need to wash your face towel in warm water using hypoallergenic laundry soap (and no fabric softener) at least every second day if not every day. Once you’ve washed them, they need to be dried and stored outside your humid bathroom to avoid a buildup of yeast on the towel.

It's time to ditch the towels altogether!

The drag of having to ensure you have a face towel for every day of the week is enough to get anyone down. We get it. And that’s precisely why we created Clean Towels. They’re biodegradable and 100% organic, meaning you can always rely on them to help you achieve the best results after cleansing your skin. Clean Towels eliminate the risk of bacteria spreading from one part of your body to your face, and they’re a convenient solution that’ll leave your skin feeling fresh and pampered with their ultra-soft texture!
