How to Become More Resilient to Stress In Just A Few Weeks

Eliminating all stress from your life is not possible, but becoming more resilient to it is! There are some key steps you can take to cultivate resilience, enabling you to adapt effectively to various environments, situations, experiences, and stress levels.

  • Step 1: Eat a Nutrient Dense Diet and Balance Your Blood Sugar 

A nutrient-dense diet and balanced blood sugar levels bolster stress resilience by sustaining energy supporting optimal bran function, regulating hormones, enhancing the gut-brain connection, and reducing inflammation. 

Top Tip: Eat a nutrient- dense breakfast with lots of protein, fiber-rich carbs, and good fats. 

  • Step 2: Support and Synchronize Your Circadian Rhythm 

A well-regulated circadian rhythm boosts your ability to adapt and handle stress effectively by improving sleep quality, supporting cognitive function, and optimizing the release of cortisol and melatonin. 

Top Tip: Get morning sunlight as soon as possible in the morning. Aim for 5-10 minutes if it's sunny and 20-30 minutes if it's overcast. 

  • Step 3: Improve Vagus Nerve Tone and Nervous System Flexibility 

The tone of our vagus nerve serves as a barometer for how easily we can shift between stress and calm states. A well-toned vagus nerve allows for a more fluid transition, promoting resilience and quicker recovery from stressors.

Top Tip: Practice slow, deep breathing with a longer exhale than inhale for 5 minutes daily. 

  • Step 4 - Exercise and Move Your Body Everyday

Regular exercise reduces baseline levels of stress hormones and blunts the hormonal response to sudden psychological stress. Additionally, it induces changes in gene expression that enhances mental stress resilience.
