As the seasons shift, so should our skincare. Spring is all about renewal—and just like you’re probably swapping sweaters for short sleeves, your skin benefits from a fresh start too. Warmer temps, increased humidity, and more sun exposure can all influence how your skin behaves. And whether you’re breakout-prone, sensitive, or somewhere in between, understanding your skin’s seasonal needs is key to staying clear and balanced.
Here’s how I reset my routine each spring, featuring a few of my go-to Clean Skin Club Face Reality and staples:
1. Lighten Up Your Moisturizer
During colder months, our skin tends to crave richer, more occlusive creams. But as temperatures rise and moisture levels in the air increase, those same formulas can start to feel too heavy—especially for acne-prone or oily skin types.
That’s when I swap my Cran-Peptide Cream for clearDerma—a lightweight yet nourishing moisturizer that delivers hydration without congestion. It’s infused with antioxidant support to help combat free radical damage (hello, sun exposure), and it layers perfectly under SPF.
2. Recommit to SPF (Every. Single. Day.)
Even if you’re not basking in direct sunlight, UV exposure increases significantly in spring. And while SPF is a non-negotiable year-round, spring is a great time to double down on consistency—especially if you’re dealing with any type of hyperpigmentation or sensitivity.
I reach for Face Reality’s Daily SPF 30 Plus, which offers reliable broad-spectrum protection in a lightweight, acne-safe formula. No white cast. No greasy residue. Just everyday protection that fits seamlessly into your morning routine. A bit more on the oily side or prefer a matte look? Try the Mineral Matte SPF 28.
Skin Fact: UV rays can trigger melanin production, worsening post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (think dark marks left behind after a breakout or other skin trauma). Consistent sun protection is your best defense.
3. Toner Time = Cloud Pad Time
Seasonal changes can disrupt the skin’s pH and barrier function—leading to unexpected dryness or breakouts. A good toner helps re-balance and prep the skin, especially post-cleanse.
Spring time is a great time for Face Reality’s Calming Facial Toner—it soothes and lightly hydrates the skin, and I apply it with Clean Skin Club’s Cloud Pads. These ultra-soft pads are so gentle on even sensitive or compromised skin and take your routine from functional to feel-good.
Bonus Tip: Spending time outdoors or hitting the gym? Keep pre-dampened Sal-C Toner pads on hand for quick, clarifying refreshes throughout the day. Simply pop a few Cloud Pads into a ziplock bag and add some Sal-C Toner.
4. Spring Clean Your Tools
This one’s easy to overlook—but trust me, it matters. Warmer weather often means more sweating and environmental exposure, which can increase the risk of bacteria transfer from tools, brushes, and towels to your skin.
Use this season as a reminder to:
- Wash or replace makeup brushes—you can use your Ultra Gentle Gel Cleanser followed by a spritz of alcohol
- Regularly sanitize tools like gua sha stones
- Switch to Clean Skin Club’s Clean Towels for a hygienic way to dry your face or remove face masks (my favorite are the XL!)
- Regularly swap your pillowcases out—for an added benefit, use Clean Skin Club’s Clean Sleep Silver Ion Pillowcases which help to prevent bacteria growth.
Final Thoughts
A spring skin reset doesn’t mean starting from scratch. It’s about making thoughtful swaps to support your skin’s natural rhythm as the seasons change. Stay consistent, keep it clean, and focus on hydration, protection, and balance.
Here’s to fresh starts and even fresher skin—happy spring resetting!
