How Vaping Affects Skin

Using your electronic cigarette can contribute to skin health issues 💨 Whether it’s causing acne, dehydration, or premature wrinkles, it stunts the benefits of your skincare routine.

Not everyone will get breakouts from nicotine use or nicotine addiction, but if you’re acne-prone, it can be a trigger contributing to clogged pores and chronic inflammation.

Vaping liquids, like those in electronic nicotine delivery systems (ENDS), often contain propylene glycol, which leads to dehydrated skin.

Not only that, one of the effects of vaping is that it causes your oil glands to go into overdrive, resulting in more breakouts/congestion… It also slows the wound healing process, meaning breakouts and leftover marks won’t heal as quickly! Over time, vaping can accelerate signs of aging, such as wrinkles, and may impair skin health.

Additionally, the aerosols in e-cigarettes may release toxic chemicals that heighten skin sensitivity and pose an increased risk for worsening existing skin conditions like psoriasis or contact dermatitis. Nicotine use also is linked to skin cancers, such as squamous cell carcinoma and melanoma, as well as oral cancer.

Research suggests that e-cigarettes contain substances that could pose various health risks, including products promoting smoking cessation products misused.

Whether you’re switching to e-cigarettes from traditional cigarettes, using tobacco products, or exploring newer options, it’s vital to understand vaping’s adverse effects on your body, particularly your skin.

I know that using e-cigarettes has become super popular, but it’s always a good idea to look into the potentially harmful effects of electronic cigarette use and understand the risks involved. Stay informed and take care of your skin!
